Consociates Auxiliary Governing Body
The word "consociate" means to associate in partnership or fellowship; enter or welcome somebody into a friendly association or alliance. This aptly describes the Consociates Auxiliary whose purpose is to carry on philanthropic service to the community.
Individuals with the desire to give back to their community but faced with limited time to volunteer can manage both as a member of Consociates. An evening schedule gives the opportunity for working people, those caring for families or unavailable during the daytime the flexibility to volunteer plus the benefits of membership.
The Baby Bundles and Assault Survivor Kits programs are managed by Consociates:
- Baby Bundles
Consociates volunteers furnish layettes of essential clothing, blankets and care items for newborns in need.
- Assault Survivor Kits®
Consociates volunteers prepare kits containing new sweats, underwear and hygiene items for victims of sexual assault following their forensic examination.
Consociates members pay dues of $55.00 per year. Meetings and program work are held on the last Wednesday of the month. Members socialize over a light dinner, make plans and prepare Baby Bundles and Assault Survivor Kits. The annual Karen S. Johnson Woman of Distinction Fundraising Luncheon is sponsored by Consociates. The May event honors one or two local women who by their community, professional or educational endeavors and accomplishments have had a significant influence on others. All proceeds from the event’s silent auction and gift drawings fund Baby Bundles and Assault Survivor Kits.
