Assisteens Philanthropic Programs

Operation School Bell Support

Assisteens support the Assistance League's main philanthropic project, Operation School Bell, by assembling and bagging outfits for needy children in the Salt Lake area. Items include parkas, jeans, sweatshirts, shirts, underwear and socks. Operation School Bell outfits over 5,000 preschool, elementary and junior high children that have been referred by area schools' counselors.

Santa's Helpers

Assisteens read holiday stories and participate in festive craft projects with preschoolers at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salt Lake. Our teens love interacting with the children and feel a sense of fulfillment by providing needed school supplies and toys to the organization each year. The Boys & Girls Club provides after-school programs designed to enable young people, especially those who need help the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

Bridging the Years--Senior Social

Assisteens enjoy connecting with those of differing generations through our Senior Social, held at a local senior center. Whether it's hosting an ice-cream bar or participating in arts and crafts projects, the teens and seniors are inspired by the stories, interesting talents and heritage shared at this event. In addition to great conversation, our Assisteens provide needed items for the senior center residents.

Bunny Baskets

Assisteens assemble over 100 bunny baskets for the children staying at the local YWCA. What fun it is to surprise these children with a colorful basket filled with candy and toys!

The YWCA is Utah's oldest, largest and most comprehensive provider of shelter, transitional housing, education and supportive services for women and children who have experienced family violence.

Helping the Homeless

This year our Assisteens expanded their homeless outreach by working with the Family Support Center/Lifestart Village. They assembled and donated over 90 toiletry kits and hosted craft stations for 40 children at the transitional housing center. Our teens always look forward to actively giving to those in need.
