On May 17, Assistance League of Salt Lake City was presented the Commission on Youth (COY) Award for its service to the youth in the community.  The ceremony, held in the Salt Lake County Council Chambers, was followed by an interview with ABC4 News.  Assistance League was nominated for this prestigious award by Mike Harman, Homeless Liaison in Salt Lake School District and honors us for clothing children in need through Operation School Bell and providing urgent dental care to children through our Operation Healthy Teeth program. Our Assistance League volunteers are very excited to announce our organization's selection as a winner of the 2016 Salt Lake County's Commission on Youth (COY) Award. Assistance League Consociates Auxiliary has chosen Susan Creager Allred, founder of Community Animal Welfare Society (CAWS) as its 2016 Woman of Distinction honoree. The Woman of Distinction award will be presented to Ms. Allred at the Consociates Annual Woman of Distinction Luncheon to be held on May 14, 2016 at the Cottonwood Country Club, 1780 E. During our Holiday Luncheon on December 7, Assistance League of Salt Lake City was presented with a $10,000 grant from the eBay Foundation Corporate Advised Fund at Silicon Valley Community Foundation in support of Operation School Bell. The grant request was submitted by Carol Coulter, Assistance League Fund Development Chair, and was recommended by eBay Foundation's employee-volunteer led Salt Lake City Global Impact Team. Assistance League members have recently participated in two nonprofit, volunteer events.  On August 19, 3M Health Information Systems, a generous Assistance League donor, held an event to introduce their employees to the nonprofits supported by the company.  Representing Assistance League were Chapter President, Kathie Greeno, Joni Dahle, and Barbara Engen. Being the victim of theft is a terrible and unsettling experience, but in the case of the Assault Survivor Kits that were stolen out of a member's locked car, it can also be a heartwarming time when the community steps in with its support.  During the night of August 27 - 28, a thief or thieves took 30 Assault Survivor Kits destined for the Rape Recovery Center.  These kits contain underwear, clothing and toiletries for victims, both men and women, of sexual assault who have to leave their own clothes at the hospital as evidence.  Assistance League provides between 300 - 400 of the kits to...

On May 18, Mr. Michael Harman, M.ED, Homeless Liasion for the Salt Lake City School District, was honored by receiving the 2015 Operation School Bell Award.  Each year, Mike ensures that students at the Road Home Shelter are able to shop for new school clothes during our Old Navy Junior High event.  Mike assists the students with their shopping and the adoration and respect the students have for him is heartwarming to see.  He is a true advocate for the students he serves.  Assistance League is honored to work with Mike and his colleagues to provide new clothing to these deserving students...
If you are a parent looking for help with clothing for your child, please know that our Assistance League volunteers wish we could help each one of you who contacts us.  However, we work only through school counselors in the following districts: Canyons, Granite, Jordan, Murray and Salt Lake City. We do not provide clothing to individual students.  If your elementary or middle school child is in need of new clothing, please contact your school counselor and explain your situtation to him or her. Thank you!! 
Julie Wissler, founder of Helping Kids With Cancer, was honored on May 2 as Consociates Auxiliary's 2015 Woman of Distinction at a well- attended luncheon at the Cottonwood Country Club. For over 16 years, the volunteers of Helping Kids With Cancer have provided assistance and support to children in treatment and their familes.  Julie was presented the award by Consociates Chair, Cynthia Sulprizio, then spoke to the audience about her organization and the difference it makes to children battling cancer.
